Chamber members enjoyed a Cybersecurity seminar held together with Chamber member Fisher Bachar Chen Well Orion & Co. Law-firm regarding Cybersecurity challenges and the legal environment surrounding this subject.
Adv. Amit Dat and Dr. Omri Rachum-Twaiq from Fisher Bechar reviewed the existing legal situation in Israel regarding information security and the areas of responsibility of the various regulators. Thus, Cyber Headquarters and the National Authority for Cyber Defense, established through government decisions, are responsible for intercepting instances of cybercrime and guaranteeing the readiness of various government bodies to deal with cyber attacks. In addition, the Authority informs the various regulators regarding the information security requirements applicable to the supervised entities (for example, in the banking, health, institutional and infrastructure sectors). At the same time, the Protection of Privacy Law and the information security regulations promulgated thereunder apply to the entire business sector in Israel providing detailed information about security obligations regarding personal information collected by various entities. The information security regulations, which will come into force in May 2018 and will be enforced by the Authority for the Protection of Privacy, are expected to create a higher bar of information security standards in the business sector and require businesses of every type and size to prepare and comply with the law’s legal and technological aspects.
